Villa La Grange

Cover SKF «Villa La Grange»

Formerly a private estate, today a public park

Built around 1770 by the Lullin family, Villa La Grange, set in its landscape park, is one of the most distinctive mansions to grace the Geneva countryside. Attributed to architect Jean-Louis Bovet and/ or Jean-Jacques Vaucher-Faton, it exemplifies regional master builders’ adaptation of the French architectural model and attests to the prestige of Geneva’s great patrician families.

After being acquired by the Favre family in the early 19th century, the property underwent further development, with Guillaume Favre installing an exceptional library and Edmond Favre carrying out alterations in the Second Empire style in the 1850s. Bequeathed to the City of Geneva in 1917 by William Favre, to this day the Villa preserves the legacy of these successive phases, offering unique insight into the art of living and interior design in the 18th and 19th centuries.
