Le Corbusier - Education and Training, Projects and Constructions in Switzerland

Cover «Le Corbusier - Education and Training, Projects and Constructions in Switzerland»

Charles-Edouard Jeanneret, who took the pseudonym of Le Corbusier in 1920, was one of the greatest architects of the 20th century as well as being a painter. His years of training with L’Eplattenier at La Chaux-de-Fonds, his early constructions in “sapin style”, his initiatory travels, the training periods he spent with Peter Behrens in Berlin and the Perret brothers in Paris, and his many aborted projects in Switzerland often remain poorly known. But Le Corbusier brought his works to notice through his many writings. Since then, his constructions in Switzerland have been restored with great expertise and two of them, the Clarté building in Geneva and Villa “Le Lac” in Corseaux, were placed on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage sites in 2016.
